Did You See That?
The day was going fast now and we didn’t want to be late for our dinner so; I told David and Sally we should be headin’ back so we wouldn’t get inta any trouble… they agreed very quickly. They were scarred so much that David was still shaking like a leaf on a fall tree. Sally stuffed as much girl things into her pockets as she could especially after I told her it was OK to take things that no one would ever miss any way. When we started out of the room and I felt something nudge up against me and I thought it was Sally, but she was in front of me. Turning around quickly, there behind me was the girl in the painting, but what was even stranger was that I could see right through her. I turned back around telling my friends. “Did You See That”? They said no and then I pushed David and Sally out the door quite suddenly. They wondered why I done that. I told them we’d best hurry up and head home so we wouldn’t be late for dinner; running down the stairs with them on my heals and a hot breathe right behind me whispering in my ear. “Stay and play with me please I’m very lonely here by myself, please stay and play with me”, but there wasn’t any one else except David and Sally running down the stairs behind me. We all hurried up as fast as we could; getting’ the heck outta there; runnin' all the way back home as fast as out small feet carried us through the weeds, cornfield, over the creek, through the woods, and all the way back home where we’d be safe and sound once again.
