Excellence or Success?

If you ask me, “What is that one thing which drives me forward, keeps me going under all circumstances and outperform others?”  The answer would be very simple.

It’s the desire to excel in my area of work that makes me stand apart from the crowd, accept challenges, take risk, overcome the fear of unknown and deliver nothing less than the best.

The secret is, if you stop compromising with excellence, success cannot stay away from you. It is bound to come to you. In my span of professional experience, I have come across many individuals and I decided to put them in different categories.

Wherever I went, whomsoever I met, I found only two categories of people. The first category of people are those who are willing to take up challenges in life because they know the rules of the game and can play it better than others.

 Very strangely, there is another category of individuals who are not even aware of the rules, they dont even know how to play the game, but still, they want to accept the challenge and play the game, not because they want to win - but they have a keen desire to learn the game.

The point I want to make is, that logically speaking the first category should always outsmart the second one. But to my utter surprise, I realised that in practical, it is the 2nd category of people who outsmart the former. Because these individuals are keen to learn the game, experience the bitterness, learn through abuses and rise above their situation. And  I am happy that I belong to the Second Category of Individuals . Atleast I can be rest assured that my desire to learn from the scratch will take me to great heights.

I want to drive at a very important point which is very easy to miss.

People say that “smart work is better than hard work”. I beg to differ. 

I will put it this way.

”If you are working hard everyday, only then you are doing smart work.”  There is no alternative to hard work, and it is the only path to excellence. Excellence will always lead to success, but success without excelling in your field is of no use. Its just like becoming a King for one day and then getting back to slavery, where you lose your identity.

Hence, rise, not to fall down, but to be there and help others grow .

I would conclude by saying, that if you want to rise to fame just to prove it to others how low they are, then it’s better to stay where you are. Because Nature would crush you so brutally that  you will never think of making this mistake.

Believe it or not, people who work for others,  always leave their mark in this world
