Authors, Entrepreneurs, and other Creative Individuals Pursuing Their Dreams
The great American pastime. Part of the quartet including Mom, Chevrolet and apple pie. It’s a sport I’ve always loved, but more as a spectator than a player. My normal playing spot was right field, where I was about a C+. My talent in the batting cage was in the B area, maybe a B+ at times, since I could hit a long ball on occasion.
Baseball can be as…

Oh, and he’s smart, too. Really, you can tell it right away when you meet the guy. Although he doesn’t have much to say, he still communicates very well.
In his favor, he’s not bigoted or discriminatory. He’ll shake your hand without giving you a HD look-over first to “qualify you”. As far as the intelligence, (again, a point in his…

The definition of an underdog is about as plain and simple as that of being homeless. Both are very easy to understand. The underdog is the contestant, or the team in some cases, everyone expects to lose. The homeless are understood by everyone to…

It seems we can get your attention if it’s attempted in the proper way. Very short post today. The 1:48 video says it better than I ever could. Please take it to heart and remember, any small thing you can do to help will be enormously appreciated.
I’m…

A relatively new subscriber initiated a two-part question, something I’ve asked for many times but rarely received. The first question: am I able to use a stated phrase, (in this case it’s one of my own witticisms), as the theme of a blog post? The second question: do I ever object when someone suggests a topic for an article?
In…

Those words came from someone else.
More concisely, God never “said”. Since He has no body, He also has no voice. Not a sound as we understand it. It doesn’t stop there, either. By whatever means He communicated with mankind those first times, if He did any input on the bible, it wasn’t in English. That language had yet to be created. The bible, as I’ve said in the past, is the greatest fiction piece…

Kinda-sorta hurts when you’re forced to stand up and declare “one of us” has been a bad guy. People always love to step to the window and say “He’s one of us” when a member of their group is the hero. Does something good or unique. “That’s one of our guys.” It’s a “pride thing” and we all do it.
Where it takes character is to follow…

Perhaps the world would be better served if someone was hired or appointed to follow me around recording the oddities in and about my life. Such as this newest curiosity, the fact I’m now forced on occasion to diddy-bop around the house on tiptoes.
It’s an adaptation I picked up because of, I assume, the diabetes I now enjoy. As I’ve said in other posts,…

Ever hear that from anyone?
I could start this on a humorous bent, but I won’t. There’s a point to be made and it won’t be reached if I spend the limited space I have today regaling you with laughter.
Kiss my ass! Drop dead! Tell it to the hand! Screw you, (or a variation of…

Kids and old people. They get inserted into our world, too. (I’ll always be a homeless guy as long as there are legal residents of this country without a roof and a bed). It’s a world where no one wants to be, but many are forced into. Very sadly, as I’ve mentioned in the past, there are some of us who become so inured to living that way we become unrecoverable. Turn into…

You just received a boost in the ratings. All of you. That includes you, the cheapskate with a wad of bonus money you just lucked into filling your pocket. You come across a homeless guy whose very appearance attests he hasn’t eaten in three days. You step around him as you go into Mickey D’s to grab a bag of fries and a Coke to take the edge off being hungry three hours before dinner.
That same…

The items listed below are links I’ve gathered of late but either didn’t have enough in them to create an entire blog post, or I hadn’t yet gotten to ‘em so far. This feature, the potpourri, is something I run around the beginning to the middle of each month.…

A friend and I were talking today and it was suggested I find a way to include the topic in one of my blog posts. Since I almost never pass by a chance to put up something that’ll help any of us, the homeless, I thought about it and decided the idea made sense. Differently than usual, I’ll begin with this short song, a comical oldie by Jimmy Soul – If You Want To Be Happy (for the rest of your life, don’t…

That title may lead many of our regular readers to think I’m gonna go into my oddball sleep times, but I’m not. Instead, we’ll focus on different things people are sometimes forced to do so they can sleep.
Imagine being forced to form new habits in order to get a night’s sleep. Among them is one where you have to learn to cover your eyes with one hand to block out the glare of a blinding spotlight on a…

I’ve met him before a few times. Nondescript is a good description. Mid to late 30s, but that’s only seen when you look close. A casual glance would indicate late 40s or more.
Can’t remember his name, although he did fill-in once when I needed some work done and my main homeless guy, Billy White, had to scramble…
