Searching for someone to swap critiques--an online critique group

Hi, I have recently written a book Jesus My Son: Mary's Journal of Jesus' Early Life. It is published and available on "The Wall". My book was reviewed by many friends and edited by a professional, but when I look at parts of it, there are things I wish I could change.

I am currently working on Book II of the series and would like to enlist help from some fellow writers. If you are working on a book also, maybe we could critique each others work. Maybe we could even form an…

Short Story Contest Winner

The winners up to sixth place are now out and online for the Arkansas Writers’ Conference contests at Little Rock, Arkansas.

I placed second in contest 25. Look What The Cat Dragged In. Title of my short story was The Unexpected Visitor. Guidelines for this entry - a short story and no word limit which is great for me. I know 2500 words is about the top limit for an entry, but I like it when I don’t have to watch the count close.

I’ve been entering this set of…

Moretti

Why do the really strange things always happen during the

night?

Is there some sort of metaphysical transformation which manifests

itself when the light turns to darkness? Darkness, after all, is merely

the absence of light.

Perhaps the dawn of each new day is in fact just the beginning of a

new…

Moretti Again

I don’t know how it is for other writers but for me, the creative thoughts seem to start hitting me when the sun goes down. Before then, I suppose, my thoughts linger somewhere outside, probably in the garden.

There always seems to be something outside that needs my attention.

The problem I haven’t been able to conquer is I seem to wake up around seven in the morning,…

The Rewards of Writing

The rewards of writing . . . And the Whippoorwill Sang

By

Micki Peluso

While writing the book was something I had sworn to do as a promise to the one I lost, it was both blessing and bane. There were times when I laughed and times when I cried—just like my readers. As some of you know, many supernatural events happened as I finished the book. Parts of the book seemed written by someone other than me and while I was happy and relieved to finally write, ‘The end’, that was… Continue

DEADLY DROUGHT

It was an overcast morning. Being a Sunday I decided to laze on the bed with a cup of piping hot coffee. The rich aroma of the freshly decocted coffee tickled my senses. A sip later, my cell phone buzzed. Hesitantly I reached out to get the disturbing instrument. It was Rahul on line. "Mam, good morning. I called you to inform that a few of us have been called for interviews in a couple of consultancy houses. And..." The call got disconnected as my mobile was out of charge. The call had, no…

'Tilly's Tale', Thinking Christmas?

Please forgive the shameless plug, but, with Christmas about to loom large in everyone's thoughts, I'd like to drop in a quick plug for my award-winning children's book, Tilly's Tale, written under my Harry Porter pseudonym. Now, when I say childrens' book, I have to admit that it was written in such a style as to appeal to 'kids' from 8 -99, and it appears as many adults as children have bought it and enjoyed it.… Continue

Clean Up

I use my computer an awful lot and is always finding junk stuff that is downloaded by unwanted methods in which I cannot control. So I take the manual route in cleaning my computer besides the software that I already have on it to do the job as well.

In my findings, I was blessed to learn of Microsoft Live One Care Scanning Tool which does an indepth job of cleaning a computer and is free of charge.…

My older daughter's story will be on Animal Planet's "Monsters Inside Me" tonight, August 25th, at 10pm EST. She was adopted from Nepal at 3 and five years later had a tapeworm in her brain. I wrote her story a well as her sister's in my book Children of Dreams. Ours is supposed to be the first segment of three. Today Manisha is a healthy 19-year-old. Be inspired! And learn how to prevent the most common neurological…

If you like cozy, clean mysteries like the Amazing Gracie Mystery Series I write, I've found a site on an Amazon mystery discussion group. There are many books to choose from at http://www.cozy-mystery.com The site had an email contact for the host so I sent a message requesting she try a complimentary copy of Neighbor Watchers - ISBN 1438246072 so she can see for herself what my mystery series is like and think about adding my books to her… Continue
