A Rescue Dog on Radio? Tilly's Tale to be featured on Wild About Pets!

I'm really thrilled to have been contacted by Susan Frank, the host of the Wild About Pets Radio Show, who was interested in doing a feature on Tilly's Tale, and, following discussions with her, I've agreed to do an interview with her on her show on 30th April at Noon, CST. I'll be talking about Tilly's Tale of course, and also my other dogs. What makes this so exciting is that the show will go out live, and will interact with the… Continue

Fifth Week of Writing "Jefferson’s Masterpiece"

In addition to providing historical information about what happened on the three days I wrote about last week, I also provided some insights into Thomas Jefferson and the peripheral events that were taking place in the Second Continental Congress. As you will see, Congress did not spend all of its time dealing with lofty questions of how to conduct a war with a ragtag army of farmers and tradesmen or how to achieve…

Freaky little novella written by an older Mississippi man

I like good stories that support the topic of my books, civil rights or lack thereof in Mississippi. The other day, I was using google to see what I could ferret out about Mississippi's Klan/Mafia connection and I came across a novella written by a man from eastern Mississippi. The book is loosely based on his experiences growing up with family members in the Klan. Wanting to learn more, I sent him email and ended up with a story that I could use on my Civil Rights Stories blog. Take a look --… Continue

Fourth Week of Writing "Jefferson’s Masterpiece"

During the three days I wrote about last week, Jefferson showed his draft of the declaration to three of his fellow committee members. They had requested to see it before it was submitted to Congress. I also provided information about a developing military situation in South Carolina that the members of Congress learned about on June 27.…

A Great Review for 'Pestilence'

I'm delighted that my recent release, 'Pestilence' has just picked up a great 5 star reader review at Amazon.

From award winning author Brian L Porter comes the thriller sensation of the year. 'Pestilence' leads where others will follow in creating a

scare-fest that will terrify, entertain and astound the reader.

Pestilence....breathe if you dare!

The year is 1958, the place, an idyllic village in the heart of the English countryside. Olney St. Mary has stood in…

Had to share this quote

Reading the new Guerrilla Marketing for Writers (Jay Conrad Levenson, Rick Frishman,Michael Larsen, and David L. Hancok) and it's great. Just wanted to share this quote because it made me stop for a moment...

Our earth is degenerate in these latter days; there are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end; bribery and corruption are common; children no longer obey their parents; every man wants to write a book; indeed, the end of the world is…

Have We Lived Before

Have we lived before, do we all have other life experiences we no longer remember. It is certainly a compelling possibility and one that I have chosen as the theme in my new book Private Lives.

The concept of reincarnation, that of an individual dying and then being reborn into another body has existed in various religions for at least 3,000 years. It has now spread to the point that there are probably more people alive who believe in reincarnation than do not. Hinduism, Buddhism,… Continue

Seven Axioms of Writing

• Consistency
Make sure that you have used the same term spelled the same way throughout the story, blog post, or copy. This is especially
true if you have created a language in a Sci-Fi story, or are using
specific jargon in copy, or in blog posting. Nothing will turn your
reader off faster than simple mistakes in consistency that yell amateur.
