I have enjoyed a few successes, like graduating with a doctorate in the materials sciences, and developing the reinforced metal used for the antenna of the Hubble telescope. Yet the creative side of me, the storyteller, always wanted to be an author of fiction, and writing has been my foremost interest for several years.
My Memoir, My Father the Viking, won 3rd Prize in the 2006 Linda Joy Myers Memoir Competition of the National League of American Pen Women. Combat Magazine—the Literary Expression of Battlefield Touchstones—featured my short story The Fall, an excerpt from a novel I wrote after visiting the World War I trenches in the Italian Alps. I received an Honorable Mention from the Speculative Literature Foundation, 2006 Grant, based on the first 50 pages of a novel set in Siberia.
I am a member of ACFW, the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance and the New Hampshire Writers Project. Tess Gerritsen acknowledged me in her bestselling medical thriller, Harvest, for providing research materials.
For the past five years, I’ve worked with a novelists’ edit-group associated with NHWP.

Davide: Contemporary Speculative Fiction
In his bestselling book of philosophy, a Harvard professor blames faith and belief for much of the conflict in the Middle East. Lightning strikes him while he’s on vacation in Italy, admiring the view from the top of Mt. Subasio. Lightning, a sword of redemption in the hand of God.
David Bruno suffers an out of body experience and faces death. As he floats above his body he hears a soft voice say, "Go forth, Davide, rebuild faith and belief, spread kindness for me."
When he reawakens, a woman with wild gray hair rescues him from the mountain. Nola is a mischievous angel with a wicked sense of humor who doesn’t have wings. She’s seeking to atone herself in the eyes of God by redeeming David, the man who wrote the book damning faith and belief.
After dismissing God’s message twice, David settles in Assisi and starts a new and challenging life.
