Brief Biography (Authors Required - Others, optional)
Denise was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1960. She received her GED from Olive-Harvey College in 1993. She graduated from National Louis University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Behavior. In 2009 she graduated from Spertus College earning her Master of Science Degree in Nonprofit Management with a concentration in Human Service Administration. She is a certified Addiction and HIV/AIDS Counselor.

She came up on the rough side of the mountain. Her mother was never around and left her to care for her brothers and sisters. The oldest of seven siblings, Denise was raised by her grandmother in a sweet but bitter home.

By the age of six, her grandfather, uncle, cousin, the man from the dry cleaners and her sister’s father had molested her. She attended Ulysses L. Grant Elementary School, but dropped out of school at an early age.

At the age of ten, she moved back home with her mother and siblings to the Rockwell Gardens housing project on the west side of Chicago.
At the age of eleven, her mother introduced her to an environment overridden with drugs, sex and crime. By age twelve, Denise was shooting heroin and committing burglary and auto theft in order to support her drug habit. This lifestyle went on for approximately fourteen years.

In 1986 at age 26, Denise met the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave her a second chance in life and he rewrote her destiny. Upon changing her lifestyle and connecting with positive people, Denise overcame the adversities controlling her life. She is a deliverance minister, author, and motivational speaker in the Chicago-land area.

Today, Denise has a great compassion and love for helping others on a daily basis. This love and compassion has inspired her to tell her story in her first book, “Who Said It Couldn’t Be Done?” This candid, true-life account is a heartwarming and inspirational story about a little girl whose mother failed her.
