In searching for new ways to promote my books, I recently submitted my second novel "Assassin's Trap" for the Independent Publisher Book awards. It was an odd experience and I was only slightly more informed as to the purpose of the awards by the end of the submission as at the beginning. Over the past few weeks, I've experienced a bout of writer's block combined with geographical block. With the plot for my next novel firmly planted in my head, I simply couldn't make the ideas flow. So I added a new character and plot line and forged ahead. In the end, it was the vastness of China's northwest blocked me at every turn.
