Spirit Mother

She walks on forgotten whispers
gown blowing in lost conversations
She smiles at rays of sunshine
that fall on extinct nations

She talks to troubled spirits
hands gesturing in the moonlight
She frowns at falling teardrops
lost amid the stars so white

She lingers in the autumn breeze
tresses weaving about her face
She sighs at languages long lost
at human wars for greed, for race

She cries as forests fall in silence
gracefully slipping slowly away
She turns her eyes in shame and sorrow
and fades into the coming day

This is absolutely lovely. If I may publish this on my www.warpeacetolerance.blogspot.com blog, I'd love to do it. If so, please send to me at hojonews @ aol Don't forget to remind me what it's for. Just in case you don't get this for a while. (-:

Beautiful, Melissa. I love seeing her walk the shadows of time and watching the souls float past.
I like the conistency of tone or voice in this poem. Thank you for posting it. (-:
It has beautiful visuals. It's a wonderful poem.
Maybe reading beautiful poetry like this will help to free myself to wrote poetry again. It's was poetry that opened me to the world of writing -- and I let someone destroy it. Thanks for this site -- I am going to make an effort to read the poems here, to break through this barrier. Lorilyn Roberts
