The past few days, 24 of them to be precise, I've been putting up chapters of The Shimmering Image, the 1st novel in a series of five I call The Shimmering Image series. Being new to this site, I've moved cautiously, unfamiliar with the rules. Counting the next comment I get on these chapters, I'll be up to one. ;-(

My time's been heavily occupied after I read a post on this site by Matthew Sawyer regarding the website Smashwords. The problems I ran into regarding the massive formatting changes that site required were enormous. For a guy like me, totally "non-geeky" and uninformed on many things I've learned lately about MS Word, there was a great deal of frustration accompanied by a great learning experience. There was also very little of that commodity known as "spare time". That's changing now, calling for a resounding "Whew!" on my part.

Based on the response to my consecutive posts of The Shimmering Image being not quite up to negligible, I won't bother putting up a second story. Yet, a man of my word and all that, I'll finish this one, which includes 7 more chapters and an "Interview with the Author" that serves as an epilogue of sorts. I certainly do hope none of these posts have been offensive to anyone. It was my hope they'd be enjoyed and, if I was fortunate, critiqued by others. Still, I learned even while still a little boy we don't always get what we want.

At least the SmashWords experience has resulted in some sales, and I hope to see many more. In that regard, I'll call my results to date a win. While I certainly don't expect them now, after 24 days of getting none, any comments on this post will be welcomed and will receive a prompt reply within one day, or less.

Thanx for your time and attention.

Your posts have been great to see and read.

Comments are few and far between on this site - I assume that is because everyone is so busy writing that they don't have time to spend critiquing other writings. . . . . .or maybe they just don't care, which is what I believe to be true, and they are running around scratching their head trying to write their on work.   I promise (oh dear, a commitment) to read all the chapters you have posted and give you an honest, heart felt opinion - are you up for that?  Let me know.

Most certainly I'm up to it, and look forward to whatever you might say. If you choose to contact me ... bill@billcady.com ... I'll send you the ms in one pdf attachment, or can upload it via this site if you wish to maintain the privacy.

I sent my e-mail to you via your web site - guess I did it right.  If you don't receive it let me know.
You did just fine. I received it and, if I did my part correctly, you now have that ms ... correct?

Bill, I want to encourage you to keep on writing. Comments may be few but we encourage authors to really support each other by posting comments to the hard work of their fellow-authors.

Kudos!

Thanx, Jane. I do write every day, at least 1-2 chapters in the 7th book of my latest series, CC Ryder, Jurist, and on my blog: http://atmyfriendsplace.com/blog

I once assumed a site like this would get me feedback I could use, which emphasizes the way "assume" can make an "ass" of "u" and "me". ;-)

Bill,

For some time now, Gene has been suggesting authors create his or her own self-named group, i.e."Bill Cady". You get to set the conditions for your group. Your group my be linked to other sites and forums; provided to friends and family, referenced in your blogs, etc.

You may choose to link to your Smashwords and other pages; post images, post links to all your past blogs, and more.

Today, we sent all members a message encouraging them to be more responsive and supportive of fellow-authors. It is very important that we all support each other, and thereby support ourselves, individually.
